Fairmont Pacific Rim is committed to reducing our environmental impacts and combating plastic pollution of the world’s oceans and other natural environments. In our first year of operation, we were proudly awarded the 5-Green Key rating and have continued to make positive environmental impacts to our operation in every department since.

In recent years, we have expedited our efforts to become a more sustainable hotel by limiting the amount of plastics we have in our operations and guest rooms. Discover our sustainable strides below:

  • Close-up of bathroom products

In our guestrooms, we have removed the single-use amenity bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, and have opted for large format, reusable versions. This change alone has resulted in the removal of more than 1,600 kgs of plastic from our operation in just one calendar year– the equivalent weight of 2,670 pairs of shoes! We have also replaced the plastic water bottles in our rooms with reusable glass bottles, which has taken out more than 650 kgs of plastic from our operation annually.

Other innovations have included changing our room keys to wood instead of plastic, removing plastic laundry bags in favour of reusable linen versions, and swapping out plastic razors, toothbrushes, cotton buds and shower caps, along with their packaging for environmentally friendly versions.

  • Sustainability 1

At Fairmont Pacific Rim we are proud to seek out and serve the freshest, most sustainably-sourced fish for all of our dining outlets, including The Lobby Lounge & RawBar.

  • Hand Holding Security Key Card To Access Hotel Room

All of our 367 guestrooms have iPad devices allowing guests to make spa reservations, order in-room dining, access guestroom controls, and view all hotel menus and hotel activities from the comfort of their room without the need for printed materials.

  • Sustainability

Prior to COVID-19, we had a fleet of BMW cruise and electric bicycles which were readily available for guests to explore Vancouver while reducing their carbon footprint. We also have charging stations for electric vehicles, to encourage eco-friendly transportation.
