With the first snowfall of the winter season upon us, what better way to warm up than with a glass of hot buttered rum. This drink is rich, syrupy, and deeply comforting for all the senses. It is also a great alternative to mulled wine or spiked eggnog, the traditional holiday favourites.
Our Hot Buttered Rum is made with an Aged Rum Blend, hot water and our butter rum mix, a blend of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter. What’s not to like! The drink is served in a specialty coffee mug with a cinnamon stick and a dehydrated lemon wheel. The oil from an orange peel is expressed over the surface of the drink and the peel discarded.
Much like our mulled wine recipe, the winter warmer pairs perfectly with a cold winter evening and a warm fireplace.
45ml Spiced rum
100ml hot water
30gms spiced buttered sugar*
400gms demerara sugar
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch clove
- Pre heat coffee mug, discard hot water and then build all ingredients into mug
- Stir with cinnamon stick
