Stephen Lecky is a musician turned producer. In love with the studio, he is a man on a mission constantly creating music to hit people right in the heart to make the world a better place. Formerly on “Canadian Idol” and “Canada’s Got Talent”, Stephen has performed in thousands of venues, including The Lobby Lounge, in an effort to follow his dreams and master his art. We recently sat down with Stephen to learn more about his Canadian roots and the variety of instruments he can play.
Where are you from?
Small Town St. Albert, Alberta
What style of music do you play?
I play all styles, focusing mainly on pop
What instruments do you play?
Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, Harmonica, Piano, Bass, Tap Dancer
How did you discover your passion and talent for music?
My older brother got an electric guitar, and I used to have to go into his room to secretly play it
How long have you been practicing your craft?
13 years
Favourite song to play?
Let It Be – The Beatles . I ran away from home when I was 15 years old, and my mom would hear that song whenever she was worried. This song reminds me of my mom.
Favourite song to listen to?
Get What’s Mine – Current Swell
Who is your favourite musician? What would be the first thing you would say if you met them in an elevator?
This musician would be a hybrid between Bob Marley, Paul McCartney, and Chris Martin (Coldplay). I would ask if I could do anything to mentor under them.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I go to India to meditate with a Master named Yogiraj
