Bite Me – Chai Old Fashioned Cocktail

As the season changes from summer to fall, the city comes alive with deep red and yellow foliage, creating picture perfect landscapes. The crisp fall air makes for a perfect time to explore outdoors or stay indoors and cozy up with delicious fall flavours. This Chai Old Fashioned Cocktail is the perfect drink for chilly fall nights (or days, we don’t judge). Bottoms up! Find the complete recipe below.

Chai Old Fashioned Cocktail

Let the worries of the day drift away with warm and welcoming spice and fruit notes.
aged rum | chai spices | blackberries | maple | allspice bitters

Serving: 1

Ingredients:
2 oz Aged Rum
½ oz Maple Simple Syrup
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
4 Blackberries

* Maple Simple Syrup
2 parts maple syrup
1 part water

Garnish:
Cinnamon stick or lemon twist

Method:
Boil water and brew 3 tablespoons of loose leaf chai tea, letting it steep for 3-5 minutes
Pour the steeped chai tea into an ice tray and let it freeze overnight
Once the ice cubes are frozen, muddle blackberries in a mixing glass
Add the aged rum, maple 2:1, and Angostura Bitters into the mixing glass with ice and stir for 20 seconds
In a rocks glass, add the chai ice cubes and double strain the cocktail with a hawthorne strainer and a fine tea strainer to remove any blackberry pieces
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a lemon twist
