Since August of 2022, Masayoshi Baba has overseen the renowned Lobby Lounge & RawBar omakase and sushi program as consulting head sushi chef, joining us from his one Michelin-starred namesake Vancouver restaurant, Masayoshi.
Masayoshi’s own apprenticeship began in Japan’s Yamaguchi and Fukuoka prefectures where he trained under master chefs, perfecting his knife work and the delicate treatment of seafood, before relocating to Vancouver at age 25. His new mentor of one decade, the legend, Hidekazu Tojo, taught Masayoshi the art form of omakase: creating original dishes, derived from local ingredients, based on individual customers’ presence. The experience is designed around showcasing the most seasonal, flavourful and high-quality ingredients paired with skillful presentations. Experience chef Masayoshi’s 6-course omakase, priced at $105 per person for lunch and $135 per person for dinner.
