Antoinette is an indie pop diamond in the rough. In searching for her sound and cultivating her style she has found her happy place in the world of atmospheric textures and hooky melodies. Growing up listening to artists like Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin, she has emulated their powerful & soulful voices. Her style ranges from Top 40 hits to RnB and Country, ensuring her performance will have something for everyone. We recently spoke with Antoinette Libelt and learned a little more about the singer/songwriter from White Rock, British Columbia.

Antoinette is performing on Facebook Live on Wednesday, May 6 at 4:10pm PST as part of The Sounds of The Lobby Lounge Live Music Sessions. Lend your support to the local music community through any denomination via GoFundMe, and 100% of the funds raised will be donated to Antoinette.

Where are you from?

I grew in White Rock, BC, near the beach.

What style of music do you play?

I play pop with an R&B flair but when I’m playing cover songs I really like to mix it up so could be anything from Patsy Cline to Post Malone!

What instruments do you play?

You will mostly see me with a guitar but I play piano and ukulele as well.

How did you discover your passion and talent for music?

My mom and stepdad are both musicians so I grew up going to see their live shows and that got me hooked! I knew that’s what I wanted to do as I would sing and perform for anyone who would listen. In high school I picked up the guitar, starting writing songs and made it my mission to pursue a career in music. I feel very blessed that I was able to make it a reality.

Favourite song to play?

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. It’s one of the first songs added to my sets and I still play it at almost every gig. The melody and lyrics are so beautiful and something about it still makes me emotional every time I play.

Most memorable gig and why?

It’s changing all the time as every year bring new opportunities but probably performing at Sea Fest in White Rock last summer on the main stage. I grew up going to that festival and seeing the performers so it was an amazing experience to be on the other side. Plus playing right on the beach was pretty cool!

Who’s your favourite music artist?

Lennon Stella has to be my favourite right now. Her voice, melodies, lyrics everything she just knocks it out of the park.
