Best Al-Fresco Dining Spots in Vancouver

Warmer weather is finally here and there’s nothing quite like an afternoon or evening on a patio to make it feel like summer has officially arrived. With this in mind, we’ve taking the liberty of rounding up our favourite patios in Vancouver for you:

June 18th, 2021

1. Oakridge x Pac Rim Patio

Did you really think we were going to give the #1 spot to any patio other than our very own Oakridge x Pac Rim Patio? Well, bias aside, this patio hits the mark and has earned the top spot- offering a unique atmosphere inspired in equal parts by the rice terraces of Southeast Asia and the coastal temperate rainforests of British Columbia. Not only is the design incredible, but executive chef Damon Campbell has also created a fun summer menu from a food truck that stands centre stage on the patio, in our front plaza. Did we mention that creative beverage director Grant Sceney is also serving up refreshing cocktails? Do us a favour, and come see it for yourself – you won’t be disappointed.

2. The Roof at Black + Blue

While you may not be able to get your fill of people-watching at this altitude the roof at Black + Blue makes up for it with comfortable indoor-like seating in their outdoor oasis. There’s a little something for everyone on their menu, but as they say, when in Rome… order the steak.

3. Giardino

The country-style courtyard at Giardino really makes one feel as though they’ve been transported to the Mediterranean and the menu reflects this with their Tuscan cuisine complete with pizzas, pastas, meat, and seafood dishes. While the dining room at Giardino is a bit more formal, their courtyard gives a more laidback vibe for those long summer nights.

4. Brix & Mortar

If you are worried about the weather, and the forecast isn’t clear if it rain or not, check out Brix & Mortar which has both a glass covered courtyard complete with white table cloths for a sophisticated feel, or an open patio with whitewashed brick walls and crystal chandeliers. No matter which patio you choose, you’re in good hands with the team at Brix & Mortar.

5. 1931 Gallery Bistro

For those looking for a patio with an experience, might we suggest 1931 Gallery Bistro, located just off of the Vancouver Art Gallery. It’s the perfect stop for a snack or a cocktail after taking in the sights at the gallery, with comfortable couch or high top seating. It’s a little too easy to spend a couple of hours on this patio.
