Beginning with volunteering and purchasing flowers from their garden to use in various dishes and cocktails at the restaurant, the partnership has reached its next evolution with the launch of the Garden Club.
Executive Chef Hector Laguna’s three-course Garden Club dinner menu will feature overflow produce from the Urban Farm alongside a hand-crafted cocktail from Head Bartender Jeff Savage. The menu will be ever-changing based on the available produce from the Urban Farm. A portion of sales from every reservation for the Garden Club will be donated directly to the DTES Neighbourhood House and guests will have the opportunity to donate individually during their dining experience as well.
Available from October 19 – November 27 for $110 CAD per person, reservations are recommended and can be made via OpenTable or by calling the restaurant at 604-695-5500.
ABOUT THE DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE URBAN FARM
The produce that is grown at the Urban Farm is used in various programming, including lunches with the SRO Collaborative, lunches at the Neighbourhood House, and the free market program on Fridays. The need for these programs is undeniable, particularly at the free market, where individuals often line up for over one hour to receive a bag of fresh produce. The lunch programs feed approximately 400 people per week while the free market provides approximately 50 bags of produce per week.
