Where did your interest in fashion stem from? At a young age I was surrounded by creativity and design. My parents worked together in designing as well as manufacturing children’s clothing so the blood line of fashion ran thick. I found myself exploring my skills within my parents’ workshop, where I felt very much at home. I traced patterns, cut and manipulated fabrics, and even designed and brought to life my very first skirt there.
How did you start you fashion career? At school, I majored in multiple disciplines from science, to film and even philosophy, but finally, I graduated with honors and received a marketing and business degree. This opened the door to a position as brand manager at a major fashion house. This was a turning point for me: I realized that my future lies in the fashion world. I studied at LaSalle College in Montreal which is famous for its international school of fashion, arts and design, and I honed my taste, style, and proficiency in fashion computer aided design.
What inspires your line? My line is based on collections that intertwine myriad cultural influences from Montreal to Beirut, Italy and France…The result is accomplished excellence that knows no boundaries, yet with a true sense of identity all its’ own. I draw my inspiration from a wide variety of sources; from architecture, an exhibition, a work of art or even an auction for antique lace, the possibilities are endless.
Tell us a little about the Spring/Summer 2016 collection. I boldly redefined the boundaries of feminine seduction and turn dreams into tangible works of art. I’m known for my sexy silhouettes and incredible details which are reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood.
My creations are fantasy brought to life through embroidery, beading and glamorous details that can only be found in Couture. You will find both short and long, skirts, kaftans and jumpsuits embodying the taste of refinement. The collection’s grace of seduction, open backs and intricate embroidery of iridescent floral motifs provide a sense of déjà vu amongst the subconscious.
Subtle color pallets of shimmering silver, hints of sky with undertones of powder pink and boldly seductive majestic black all caress the bodice like a second skin. Taffeta draped to the likings of a dynasty, tulle adorned with lace to project the culprit tattoo effect, accompanied with finely constructed handmade pleating for the ultimate in power and seduction.
